Passengers with Disabilities or Special Needs

Just notify our office when making your booking. Our staff are on hand to ease any difficulty you may have. Also log on to www.flying-with-disability.org and you will find more information about flying with disabilities. See below for more information on the special needs facilities at Gatwick Airport.

You should compare the arrangements offered by different airlines before making your booking and be sure to check whether the cost of any special assistance is included in the price of your ticket.

Inform your airline of your particular needs in good time and check the policy of your airline if you wish to remain in your own wheelchair to the aircraft door rather than transfer to an airline wheelchair at check-in.

Remember that there are often long walking distances within airports and that this may cause you to require assistance. Pre-arranging any necessary assistance will ensure that it's available and that no time is lost in waiting for it to be arranged once you arrive at the airport.

Around 100 airlines fly from Gatwick to around 200 destinations worldwide. Gatwick is the busiest single runway airport in the world, the second largest airport in the UK and the sixth busiest international airport in the world. Although Gatwick airport is located 28 miles south of London the airport has fast rail and road links and is a much easier place to navigate than its bigger sister Heathrow. Pre booking your Gatwick airport parking is essential if you want to save money or guarantee your parking space as the car parks get full very quickly. Some car parks leave spaces for late arrivals but not many and it is generally more expensive to pay at the gate than pre-booking. Facilities at its two terminals - North and South - are good, particularly for those who count shopping as part of the airport experience but its growing popularity is also Gatwick's biggest problem. Now the sixth busiest international airport in the world it operates all flights from a single runway and is crying out for more capacity. As for the Gatwick car parks, Tudor Rose car park is only 5 minutes from each terminal and prides itself on being probably the fastest service at Gatwick Airport. There are more than 900 rail services a day to and from the airport and more than 40 express coach services serve the airport daily.

North Terminal - Gatwick's North Terminal opened in 1988. Over 31 million passengers use Gatwick each year. The North Terminal handles most British Airways flights, Delta Air Lines, some overseas airlines' services plus a limited number of charter flights.

South Terminal - South Terminal handles the most of Gatwick’s passengers, serving domestic, international and charter flights plus BA Express.

Both Terminals offer a wide range of Shopping and Eating facilities.
